Alpine Meadows, California (May, 1999)...Team Obermeyer member,
Jessica Nolan-Bowers followed up her medal performance last month
in the World Skiercross Championships in Squaw Valley with another
top performance last week at the 3rd Annual Gates and Wakes Competition,
held at Alpine Meadows, followed by a competition leg in front
of Sunnyside on Lake Tahoe. Gates and Wakes is a combined event
of alpine racing and wakeboarding. Nolan-Bowers took First Place
in the Alpine Giant Slalom and wrapped up the competition with
a First Place in the Wakeboarding segment to take top honors overall.
The event, sponsored by Alpine Meadows, West Coast Correct Craft,
Revo, Double Up Wake Boards, Tahoe Yacht Club, and Hyperlite,
had three competitive categories, Giant Slalom alpine skiing and
waterskiing, Giant Slalom skiing and Wakeboarding or Boardercross
and Wakeboarding. Gates and Wakes is a benefit for Geoff Carrington,
former champion wjumper aterskier and who was paralyzed in an
accident. |
